What is AI?

It’s been a long time since we started thinking about how we think and how we make decisions. Artificial intelligence is the ability of a computer/machine to think and make decisions. The invention of artificial intelligence led us to explore how machines can think or make decisions like ours.

The term artificial intelligence was first used after 1956. Studies in the field of artificial intelligence began in 1943. In 1943, Warren McCall and Walter Pits developed a model of artificial neurons. This work is known as the beginning of artificial intelligence. Later, in 1949, Donald Hebb proposed a new law to modify the relationship between neurons.

In 1950, Alan Turing, an English mathematician, published a paper entitled “Computing Machinery and Intelligence”. In an experiment reflected in that paper, we were able to examine how a machine can express the intelligent behavior of a human being. This is known as the Turing test. One year later, the first artificial intelligence program was launched in 1955 by Alan Newell and Herbert A. Created by Simon.

The program was able to prove 38 of the 52 mathematical theories. Then, in 1956, the term artificial intelligence was first coined by American scientist John McCarthy at the Dartmouth Conference.
